Introduction
People with disabilities who have high support needs may wish to
use a computer, or other electronic equipment, as part of their

using a switch is to give someone a greater degree of control and
access to their environment that would otherwise be limited due to
their disability.
This half day (4 hours) workshop will enable participants to recognise
the importance of the development of switch skills and the range of
applications available for people with disabilities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Be aware of the range of switches currently available
and their application
- Understand the stages of switch skill development
- Obtain basic assessment skills to assist in identifying the
most efficient switch and switch position for a range of clients
Workshop Prerequisites
- Keyboard awareness and competency in mouse use
Target Audience
Educational staff, therapists, parents/carers, and others who work
with people with physical, learning, sensory or cognitive disabilities.
