Introduction
Boardmaker® is a communication and learning tool containing over 4,500 Picture Communication Symbols (PCS). It is designed to enhance the language and learning process for students of all levels. This half day (4 hour) workshop will teach you the advanced skills needed for creating visual displays using Boardmaker.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Be competent at finding and using ready made templates
  • Be able to import images and use colours for categorisation
  • Create different types of communication boards, e.g. schedules, activity based
  • Have an understanding of different vocabulary choices for different individuals
  • Understand Boardmaker’s use to support signing
  • Know a few places to go for tips, tricks and shortcuts!

Workshop Prerequisites

  • Previous exposure to Boardmaker software and its applications
  • Keyboard awareness and competency in mouse use
  • Proficiency in using computer applications such as word processors
  • Access to BoardMaker software program in their relevant environment

Target Audience
Advanced level users of Boardmaker.
Educational staff, therapists, parents/carers, and others who work with an individual(s) who would benefit from use of Boardmaker symbols.
